This yoga workout is “designed and adapted for the larger body.” Full-figured instructor Meera Patricia Kerr stresses that yoga can improve insulin performance in diabetics, reverse heart disease and raise self esteem.

She begins with chanting and eye exercises before teaching variations of the sun salutation, cobra and interted postures. Kerr. who seems very comfortable with he body, uses the wall rather than the floor as a foundation for the movements. The stretches are surprisingly challenging and can be further adapted to avoid unnessesary strain. Kerr ends each pose with a brief pause, concluding the session with a full relaxation.

Beginners and those limited by size or flexibility wull appreciate Kerr’s gentle encouragement and careful instructions See also Yoga for the rest of us (2004)
